The goal to be pursued should not be the suppression of any courses, but rather their multiplication or, if I may say so, their generalization. In this regard, I believe the view of the friends of the real schools to be absolutely false. They have worked against the latter courses, believing it to be in the interest of equal rights.

Therefore, the program should be completed in a similar manner to the courses dealing with Latin and Greek, which are already being organized for students whose prior philological education is lacking. These courses are being established to address the needs of such students.

Essentially, the aim should be to provide more educational opportunities, not to eliminate any existing ones. The idea of equality of rights has been misinterpreted by some as a justification for reducing course offerings. However, a true commitment to equality would involve expanding access to a diverse range of educational experiences.

In my view, the mathematical teaching community should strive to create a more comprehensive and inclusive curriculum, catering to students with varying levels of preparation. Just as supplementary courses in classical languages are made available to those who require additional foundational knowledge, so too should mathematical education be structured to accommodate the diverse needs of the student population.

The underlying principle should be one of educational enrichment, not limitation. By offering a wider array of mathematical courses, tailored to different levels of prior knowledge and experience, the educational system can better serve the diverse interests and abilities of all students. This approach aligns with the true spirit of equality, providing equal opportunities for growth and advancement through a multifaceted mathematical curriculum.
